Week 12 Reflection and Summary
What a week it's been, friends! We've stood before priestly garments and a golden calf, sung through David's cave and his courage, and watched the early church walk in both boldness and holy fear. Take some time this weekend to let these readings settle in your heart.
Old Testament: Exodus 28-33
This week showed us just how seriously God takes holiness - from the garments of the priests, to their careful consecration, to the incense that pictured Christ's intercession, right through to the golden calf and Moses' plea to see God's glory. It's all a reminder that approaching a holy God was never meant to be casual, and that Jesus is now our great High Priest who has made the way for us.
Reflection question: Where in your own life has holiness become too casual, and what would it look like to approach God with fresh reverence this week?
Poetry: Psalms 53-57
Across these five psalms, David moves through unbelief around him, persecution against him, despair within him, and enemies surrounding him - yet each time he turns back to trust and praise. Whatever the circumstance, his heart keeps finding its way home to God.
Reflection question: Which of David's circumstances this week - unbelief, persecution, despair, or fear - most matches your own right now, and have you turned it into praise like he did?
New Testament: Acts 3-5
Peter and John heal a lame man and preach boldly, the church prays for courage under threat and shares generously with one another, and then Ananias and Sapphira remind us that God will not be mocked. This is a church walking in real power, real generosity, and real holiness, all at once.
Reflection question: Does your own faith community show more of Acts 4's generosity, or Acts 5's casualness with God? What might need to change?
A Prayer for the Day
๐ Lord, thank You that Jesus is our great High Priest, that You are worthy of our trust in every circumstance, and that Your Spirit still fills ordinary people with boldness, generosity, and holy fear. Renew Your church again today, starting with us. Amen.
