Dwell in the Land
Fight or flight can apply in our spiritual lives. Sometimes God says “go”, but sometimes He says “stay.
Trust in the Lord
Psalm 37 tells us to trust God. What’s the difference between trust and hope?
God’s Whole Sanctification
God’s offer is not a ‘half-off’ deal. He wants to sanctify the whole of you! Will you submit to Him for this?
God’s Circumcision
God wanted Abraham to physically circumcise the males in his household, but the New Testament teaches us that in Christ, God wants to give us a spiritual circumcision, cutting away our old sinful selves. Have you submitted to Him for this blessing?
God’s Desire
God desired that Abram become Abraham, and Sarai become Sarah. He wants you to be made new too – but you have to play your part.
God’s Commitment
God is not just an “I AM” God, but an “I WILL” God. He has proven Himself as the one who fulfils His promises. Trust in Him today.
God’s Name
God appeared to Abram and revealed His name to encourage His servant. Perhaps you need to hear again who God is, and that His promises are true.
Supporters’ Devo: The Greater Richness
I’m grateful for your kind generosity in supporting this work. Please enjoy an extra Saturday devotion about real prosperity, and a story about Uncle Bud Robinson, in your extra supporters’ devo!
Don’t Fear Generosity
Jesus commands His followers to sell possessions and give to the poor, storing treasure in heaven rather than on earth. Show radical generosity to those in need, trusting that God will provide for you as you care for others.
Don’t Run After These Things
The pagan world runs after material things, but Jesus calls us to seek God's kingdom first and trust that our needs will be provided. Pursue joy in God rather than chasing possessions and comfort.
Don’t Worry, But Don't Sit Around
Jesus teaches that worrying about money and possessions won't add a single hour to our lives, whilst God's provision for His children is certain. Trust in God's care through prayer and thanksgiving rather than anxious worry.
Don’t Store Up the Wrong Treasure
Jesus' parable of the rich fool reveals the danger of storing earthly wealth whilst neglecting our relationship with God. Invest your time and energy in being rich towards God rather than accumulating possessions.
Don’t Be Greedy
Jesus issues a stern warning against greed, teaching that life's meaning isn't found in accumulating possessions. Guard your heart against the dangerous trap of always wanting more.
Supporters’ Extra: Old Racism, and the Call to Witnessing
One extra lesson from Dirkie Joubert’s book – which comes from a paragraph that I thought was quite racist! Thank you for your support my friends.
Sacrificing to Share Living Water
Jesus calls us to take living water to the wounded, even when facing bullets and enemies along the way. Consider what sacrifice God might be calling you to make for the sake of bringing His salvation to others.
An Eye For God’s Mercy
Even in difficult circumstances, we can choose to focus on God's mercy rather than what He didn't do. Cultivate an attitude of humble gratitude that sees His grace even in life's hardest moments.
Cast Your Bread Upon the Waters
God rewards acts of kindness and hospitality in ways we never expect, often returning our generosity "in full measure" years later. Look for opportunities to show radical kindness and compassion today, trusting that your bread cast upon the waters will return.
Praying in Simple Language
Heartfelt, simple prayers move people more than eloquent, sophisticated language that lacks genuine faith. Pray from your heart using your own words rather than trying to sound religious or impressive.
Leaving Church Early
Old Mietjie Swart's wisdom teaches us that if we cannot endure one hour in church, how can we expect to endure eternity in heaven? Give your full attention to worship and resist the urge to leave early or let distractions pull you away from God.
