The Cure for Backsliding – Don’t Delay
Backsliding can be conquered – but don’t procrastinate! Come home today.
The Cure for Backsliding – Don’t Despair
If you find yourself backsliding, don’t despair. God offers you a way out.
No Matter the Distance
The story of the lost son reminds us that no matter the distance we’ve put between ourselves and God, He will run to us when we turn and come back to Him.
The Kingdom is at Hand – Quit Sinning!
Jesus’ message when he began preaching was a call to repentance. With His kingdom at hand, let’s turn from sin, rather than simply apologizing for it.
Dare to Believe that God Saves (cont.)
Many people believe that God will see their goodness and save them. But the Bible paints a different picture of God’s saving grace being gifted because his people believed first.
Asking For a Willing Spirit
David realized that he needed God’s help to go on living a faithful life. His prayer for God’s sustaining grace is one we can all echo today.
Asking For Joy
When David realized his sin, he asked God to restore him to a place of joy. Sin takes joy away – God restores it.
Asking For Cleansing
David didn’t get stuck beating himself up for sin. He asked for cleansing and received it in faith. We must do the same!
Acknowledging Our Sin
David does not downplay or deny his sin, but confesses it openly to God, in order to find forgiveness.
Acknowledging God’s Love First
David’s great Psalm of repentance begins by stating that God is a loving and merciful God. Come to God with that knowledge, and you will be on the right track.
Don’t Pretend to Repent!
False repentance is worthless. Ahab seemed outwardly to repent, but his heart stayed godless. Have you truly repented?
A Way Back to God
The Exodus and the Exile both teach us a great spiritual truth: that God saves his people from their sin, and reconciles them back to him. Don't just ask him to get you through the tough times - he makes a way to SAVE you, and bring you back to himself.
Remember the Blemishes
Looking back on the year, let's bring the blemishes to light - not to wallow in them, but to find forgiveness and healing.
To Call Sinners
Why did Jesus come to earth? One reason He Himself gives, is to call sinners to repentance.
Admitting Our Sin
When we want to make a covenant with God, the first step is admitting our sin. King Josiah did this as he read God's Law and saw his nation's shortcomings. Are we willing to admit our sins?
