He Pulled Me Through
Let me share the next verse in my little "Year-End Prayer":
You are faithful, strong and true
and gracious every day
Though at times I strayed from You
You would always stay
When the skies were clear and blue
and when the skies were stormy
You were there to pull me through
how gently You cared for me!
When We Let Go
I spoke yesterday about how God holds onto us, but the truth is, if we let go of His hand, He lets us go. If we reject Him, He doesn't force us to stay. And perhaps as we look back on the year, we look back with sadness at how we did that at times, we strayed - not because the enemy snatched us away, but because we made the decision to let go of His hand.
But praise the Lord, while He didn't force us to stay, He pursued us and still offered us a place to return to. This is our God - faithful, when we are faithless. Strong, when we are weak. Compassionate, even when we are hardened.
Through Blue Skies and Storms
Again, I speak here about how He was there through the ups and downs - the blue skies and the storms, as I put it in this verse. It's worth considering again, the wonder of His faithfulness through the seasons of our lives. While we struggle along inconsistently, He is always the same, always trustworthy, always faithful. Praise Him today, for being the same throughout the rollercoaster of this year!
And perhaps like me you are celebrating that He pulled you through. In my own strength, I think I would have had a complete meltdown this year! But He pulled me through. He helped every day. He was just what I needed each time.
Join me in praising Him today, would you, for pulling us through yet another year.
God is not finished - He is actively at work in His people right now, even through difficulty and struggle. Celebrate His present work in your heart today, not just what He did in the past.
The Psalms call God's people to remember His past faithfulness and celebrate it, yet spiritual amnesia is a real danger for every believer. Pause today to actively recall what God has done for you, and let that remembrance become a song of gratitude.
In a world of constant change, God alone remains absolutely the same - faithful, powerful, and true. Set your eyes on the unchanging God today, and let Him be your anchor through every shift and season.
God's people throughout Scripture had to embrace constant change, and He calls us to do the same today. Trust that God has not only brought the change in your life for a good reason, but will give you the strength to deal with it.
God can use even our disappointments for good. But we must be willing to deal with them!
God invites you to present your needs to Him clearly, not just in vague generalities. Take time today to name your specific needs in prayer, trusting that your loving Father is listening and will respond in His wisdom.
Circumstances shift constantly while God remains unchanging, but the greatest truth is that this lost and lonely sheep has been found.
God remains faithful even when we stray, pursuing us with grace and pulling us through every storm and clear sky alike.
As another year closes, reflect on how holding onto God sustained you through every high and low, and give thanks that His hand never let you go.
Our faith can be a powerful way for us to set an example in this world. Do people see a deep trust in God when they look at you?
Modern medical technology saved my life, but I never forgot that God deserves the ultimate glory for my healing. Today, remember to thank God for every good gift in your life.
Lying in hospital, I wrestled with whether God caused my suffering or was simply using it for His purposes. Today, trust that even in your darkest moments, God is working all things for good.
God is not just an “I AM” God, but an “I WILL” God. He has proven Himself as the one who fulfils His promises. Trust in Him today.
God's covenant with Abram reminds us that His eternal promises cannot be thwarted by human failures or circumstances. Rest in the assurance today that God's grand redemptive plan through Christ will be accomplished regardless of your mistakes or others' choices.
The Psalms paint a picture of confident, forward-looking hope - those who sow in tears will reap in joy. Lift your eyes today from present difficulty to the glorious future God has promised His people.
