God Alone Made it Happen
After a few weeks in hospital I headed home and spent a number of weeks recovering and building up my strength. By the grace of God, I am doing very well now!
The big cut on my stomach got infected and so I went home with a negative pressure machine which was quite something. They took the stitches out of the wound and put what looked like a sponge in the middle of the wound, attached to this machine. As I sat recovering, this machine essentially pulled the two sides of the wound back together very very slowly. Each week I had to go to a nurse who would remove the dressing and tidy it up, and each week you could see how the wound was healing. Amazing technology, and I am so grateful for the wonderful doctor and nurses who used this technology so wonderfully to help me recover.
Giving God the Glory
But the glory goes to God, not the people or the tech! This is what I wrote in song 5 of this album:
The nurses tended to me, but the Father made the nurses
The doctors fixed me up, but it was God who made the docs
The medical technology that basically rescued me
Was made by people made by God above
So yes I’m thankful for all the ways
That I’ve been cared for these weeks and days
But in the end I won’t forget
It’s God alone, God alone made it happen
The glory goes to God! It was He who made the people who cared for me. It was He who made the people who dreamed up this wonderful technology that does His work of healing. He made it happen! He gets the glory.
Every Good Gift Comes from Above
Be thankful today for all the wonderful blessings in your life, but don't forget that these are gifts from a loving and caring Father above! James 1:17 says "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights". Notice - it's not some gifts that come from God. They're all from Him!
Make today a thankful day, would you? And don't forget how God is the one who gives you the right to be thankful in the first place.
