Lord Go Ahead and Pave the Way

It's a new year! May it be a blessed one for you my friend. And thank you for still being here to listen to my devotions. I hope that they continue to bless you in a real way.

I've spent the week looking at my "Year-End Prayer" song, and today I want to wrap it up with the last verse, which actually looks forward to the new year. Have a listen:

In this loud and noisy world
I strain to hear what You are saying
But Lord I know with certainty
that You hear every word I'm praying
And so I ask that by your grace
You'll cast away my doubt and fear
Lord go ahead and pave the way
as I begin another year

Listening Through the Noise

I'm aware that this year will bring much noise. There'll be an abundance of messages, videos, music, conversations and more. I know that I will have to be intentional about listening for the voice of God through it all, and discerning His voice from all the others.

But, as I said here, I know with certainty that He hears my words of prayers. Thankfully, God doesn't get overwhelmed with what must be an unreal amount of prayers coming at Him! He is all-knowing, He is outside of time, and so He is never overwhelmed. He hears our prayers, and He will hear our prayers this year.

Casting Away Doubt and Fear

So as the year kicks off, perhaps you will pray the words I sang there - "I ask that by Your grace You'll cast away my doubt and fear". Do you need to spend some time with God today, the first day of the year, and lay down your doubts and fears in prayer, asking Him to help you find peace and overcome anxiety?

Do you need to pray that last line with me, which says: "Lord go ahead and pave the way as I begin another year"? God is preparing the way for you already, friend. The year will not hold any surprises for Him. He has a plan and will see that His purposes are accomplished.

May it be a year where we stand on His promises!

May it be a year where we trust that He is paving the way!

May it be a year that we hear His voice knowing that He hears ours!

I pray for a fruitful and wonderful year for you, my friend - and it will be my privilege to journey with you through these little devotions of mine day by day.
