Small Things Make Big Differences

Yet! - Small Things Make Big Differences

In 1986 the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart 73 seconds into its flight. It was an awful disaster and all 7 crew members on board died as the spacecraft disintegrated off the coast of Florida. An investigation took place to try and find out what had gone wrong. It turned out that there was a failure of the rubber O-ring seals, causing hot gas to leak to places it wasn’t supposed to go, eventually causing the spacecraft to breakup.

Something as small as those little rubber O-rings, had a huge impact!

We’ve learned this week that something as small as the word “yet” can drastically change your mindset. Don’t underestimate a small change. God can do great things through the smallest of things!

Small Yet Mighty

In fact, let me read you a section from the book of Proverbs. This is near the end of the book where a wise man named Agur is speaking. He says this:

“Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:

Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;

hyraxes are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;

locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;

a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings’ palaces.”

(Proverbs 30:24–28 NIV11)

Small but impactful, these creatures are. So no matter how small you think you are, God can still use you in a powerful way. You may be small, yet God will still use you if you make yourself available to him.

Many of us think that our work is pointless, our jobs are pointless, our situations are helpless – we think we are too insignificant to do anything of worth – but God says even the smallest things can be used for greatness.

Have you made yourself available to God, small though you think you are?

Small Acts, Big Impact

And why don’t you make a small change in your life – using a small word like “yet” to keep you focused on God and keeping  you believing His promises. Don’t underestimate a small change, a small act of kindness, a small act of faithfulness. God sees even the small things, and uses them to do great works.

I hope that these small devotions I send out have a big impact on you and your life! And I want to thank you for every donation that comes in – big and small – which sustain the work I do here online.

God bless you friends, and may it be a great weekend for you.
