Supporters’ Extra: Increased Guilt
One more thought from the life of Manasseh - or, more accurately, the death of Manasseh. When he died, we read this: "Manasseh rested with his ancestors and was buried in his palace. And Amon his son succeeded him as king. Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon worshipped and offered sacrifices to all the idols Manasseh had made. But unlike his father Manasseh, he did not humble himself before the LORD; Amon increased his guilt." (2 Chronicles 33:20-23)
Here I am, with twins on the way, and already Shereen and I are praying for our two. And part of my prayer is that these two truly come to know and love the LORD and walk in His ways. I know how often PKs (Pastor's Kids) struggle with their own faith. I am praying already that our two will learn of the redemptive love of God through Jesus and will not be like Amon who increased his guilt and didn’t learn from Manasseh.
Grace That Exceeds Sin
That phrase “increased his guilt” is interesting. On one hand, it reminds me of some words in the New Testament. Paul wrote… please consider a monthly donation of any amount to access the extra devotions on a Saturday. Your support truly helps sustain this online work!
