Sing Because He Loves Us
We've been talking about singing all week, and I wonder if you're thinking, why would I sing as much as you're telling me to? Well, the Psalm answers our question. It says in verse 4: "The Lord takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with victory. Let His faithful people rejoice in this honor."
God Delights In Us
Do you see that? Let the people of God be singing and worshiping because God takes delight in them. Isn't that an amazing thought — that God takes pleasure or delight in His people?
Yesterday we spoke about how we should always take joy in God and sing because of our joy in God. Well, why should we rejoice? Because God takes pleasure in us and loves us. Do you know that today? Do you believe that in the core of your being — that God delights in you?
Loved And Cherished
It's a little bit like being in love. People who are in love are often so full of joy that they sing — and it's because they love and are loved in return. And our relationship with God should always be like that.
When we remember how He loves us, and how He cherishes us and forgives us — oh boy — we come to worship or we come to every day singing for joy because of what He's done for us.
In fact, it reminds me of 1 John 3:1, which says: "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God." What great love God has lavished on us!
We sing. We sing for joy every day because we know — in the core of our being — that we are loved. We are loved. We are cherished by the God of the universe.
Sing With Joy
Give your life to Him, would you? Sing for joy and give your life to Him because of what He's done for you. Because no matter how far you've strayed, no matter what you've done or said — God's love is big enough to welcome you back and make you new.
I hope that each one of you will be a singer — not professionally per se — but that you'll be a person who sings a new song (and old songs, of course). You'll be a person who sings in the assembly with the other people of God. You'll be a person who sings in private and worships God that way. That you'll sing for joy because of what He's done. And that you'll sing — because He loves you.
