Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

Hope you've had a wonderful Easter, friends. And I'm looking forward to doing a couple of weeks with you under the theme Encounters with the Risen Christ. Encounters with Jesus always changed people, but encounters with the risen Jesus seem to do something different in people's lives.

Jesus the Miracle

And it's interesting, you know, because He was the product of a miracle twice. He was born of a virgin. I mean, that's an astounding miracle, one that we often take for granted. But it's true. A virgin conceived and gave birth to this man.

Then He was raised from the dead - another miracle. He received a lot more attention for the second miracle. If you think about it, the apostles always seemed to ride on the fact that Jesus rose from the dead to prove His deity. They were always saying He’s the one who rose from the dead. And that was their selling point for the truth, for Jesus’ authenticity. They were saying, He is a miracle. He's a walking miracle.

But He was a walking miracle from the beginning, from the virgin birth they could have said He was a walking miracle. Nonetheless, it was His resurrection from the dead that truly made people believe that He was who He said He was.

Power of Resurrection

And these encounters, as I said, changed people in a profound way. There is a great power in meeting with Jesus.

Let's remember today that God is a God of power who does miracles. We're all walking miracles in a sense, right? Birth is a miracle. And maybe life would be different if we treated each other like walking miracles.

But the resurrection is the ultimate miracle. And if you look at Matthew 28, which we're going to go into a bit this week, there's a violent earthquake, and the Angel of the Lord comes down from Heaven and sits on the tomb.

This is another showing of God's great power—this violent earthquake that happened, rolling back the tomb.

Living in Power

I hope that today we can hold on to the fact that our God is a God of miracles. Our God is a God of great power. Remember, Paul said that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is available for you and I.

Jesus was a walking miracle twice in His life. But friends, we can all be walking miracles when we live in the power of the Spirit. Remember today, throughout your day, that God is a God of miracles, that there is a power that He has that is unlike anything in the universe.

May it be, friends, that God works miracles in your life today, whatever it is you need, whatever it is that you are struggling with, I pray that His miraculous power will be at work in you and through you today.
