Taking Him at His Word
Jesus finally arrives at Jairus's house. I think Jairus would have been even more excited because Jesus had done a miracle on the way. He thought, :This Man is surely going to heal my daughter!” But as He arrives, Jesus sees a noisy crowd and people playing pipes, which symbolize mourning. Obviously, the girl was dead, but Jesus in verse 24 says to them: "Go away." Which must have shocked them. "The girl is not dead but asleep." And then we read at the end of verse 24: “But they laughed at Him”.
When the World Mocks Faith
They laughed at Him. I think there are a lot of people who still laugh at Jesus' words. They laugh at the faith of Christian people who put so much stock in Jesus. But His words are powerful. His words are true. We believe them because they have the authority of God.
This reminds me of something I heard on Chrysalis last weekend. I worked as a muso on a Chrysalis last weekend. And if you don't know what Chrysalis is, or Emmaus, go and Google it—Chrysalis Emmaus—and find out and do it. You'll be blessed by it.
But last weekend, a friend of mine, a pastor here on the East Rand, Mark Anthony, said this: “If God says it, believe it, it's done!’” That stuck with me. If God says it, believe it, it is done.
The Power of God's Declared Word
And this story just proved that to me. Jesus said it: "The girl is not dead but asleep." The people didn't believe it. They laughed at Him. But it was done! He had said it, so it was already done. The power of Jesus' word is extraordinary!
Now, I wonder what words of Jesus you need to hold on to today. I wonder what words of Jesus you need to stake your life on. If He said it, believe it, it is done. He has power in His words, my friends.
Verse 25 says: "After the crowd had been put out, He went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up." She was alive, she was well, He was telling the truth.
Search the Gospels, my friends, and find the words of Jesus that are true and powerful—all of them. Those words in red. In a lot of Bibles, Jesus' words are in red. Hold on to them! Let them define your life!
In the end, the choice is yours. You can laugh at them, you can ignore them completely, or you can stake your life on them. May you find, like millions before you, that staking your life on them is the right way to go.
God bless you, my friends. Thank you for listening. Thank you for your kind donations to this ministry that keep it going.
Take care, and God bless.
