An Invitation... And a Lesson
Well, friends, I have some good news. Many of you have been asking me “Which church are you at? Where are you preaching?” And I haven't been able to answer this year for various reasons, until now! God has called me to the Church of the Nazarene in Parkrand in Boksburg, and I'm so excited about what He is doing here.
Building New Communities in God's Kingdom
The Church of the Nazarene is an English denomination. But this church has only got an Afrikaans community, and so I'm coming in to start and to lead an English community. We're going to gather to worship at 8:00 on Sunday mornings. The first service is the 4th of September. Please come along if you're in the area - I'd love to have you there for the first service.
And if you're looking for a church community, something fresh, a place to belong, get in touch with me. I'd love for you to come and be part of what I'm starting up here. And all the info is on the church website.
Walking Through Seasons of Uncertainty
Now I'm not only telling you this to invite you, but there's a lesson in here for you as well, I believe. You see, I thought I was supposed to be in the Methodist Church when I began, but after a while I could sense that this wasn't where God wanted me. It wasn't the best place to use my gifts. Then I thought I was going to the Wesleyan Church. It seemed that that door opened and so I went through it, and then that door closed quite quickly, suddenly, and I found myself wondering, "Lord, what are You doing here? Where are You calling me? What's going on?" I was very confused. I was very unsure.
But then when I met Pieter and the leaders at the Church of Nazarene, it was just so obvious to me that this was a place that I could really belong. And the encouragement that I got from these leaders of this church to come in and help out and start something English was just overwhelming! All this time there was a church I didn't even know about around the corner from me, and I believe God was shaping me, forming me, preparing me for this ministry, at the right time.
Trusting God's Perfect Plan
Maybe you're in a season where you don't know what God's doing. You just can't figure out what He's doing in your life. Maybe you're saying, "Lord, why is this happening? Why isn't this happening the way I thought?"
I believe that, like my story, your story is coming right. Trust in God's timing today, friends. Trust in God's orchestrating your situation. Because I'm convinced it's not going to end up the way you think it's going to, but God's going to use you in the way He knows is best.
Trust in Him today, even if you can't figure out what He's doing, because I promise you He does have a plan.
Hope to see you on the 4th of September. Meantime, keep trusting in God's plan for your life.
