For All Your Goodness

God is Slow to Anger, Rich in Love
Isn't it lovely to sing those words? He's rich in love and slow to anger. Now that comes straight out of Psalm 103 as well. Verse 8: “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” And we see this description of God a lot in the Old Testament. The Hebrews knew that this is who God was. Slow to anger and rich in love.
Do you need to hear that today? That God is rich in love? His love isn’t sparingly given. And He is not quickly angered, he's not hot-tempered. He doesn't lash out in anger, but he's slow to anger. He’s patient and oh boy don't we need his patience!
Great yet Kind
Your name is great and your heart is kind. I love this - God's greatness, his power and his majesty mixed with his kindness. He is both. He is utterly great and he is utterly kind.
Again, maybe you need to know this. Maybe you need to remember today that God is great - maybe he's been too small in your mind and you need to remember how big he is! Or maybe you started to think that God is cruel and you need to remember no He is kind.
Keep Singing
For all your goodness, the songwriter says, I will keep on singing. Isn't God so full of goodness? All these attributes: his love, his patience, his greatness, his kindness are all showing his goodness. And there's nothing better than singing to a good, wonderful God all throughout the day.
Will you sing today? Will you keep on singing (remember, from the heart, not just from the lips!) about his goodness today, and would you scour the Scriptures day by day and look for signs of who God is and then sing and praise Him when you see him?
Verses like this about how he's rich in love and slow to anger those abound in the Bible. It's a joy to read them and search for them and find out who he is so that you can worship. Oh, use the Bible and use worship songs and use whatever else comes your way to show you who God is that you can marvel at all his goodness.
