Blessed are Those Who Trust in God
I want to go to verse 12 of Psalm 84, which says, "Blessed is the one who trusts in You, Lord Almighty." Who trusts in You. If you want to live a blessed life - a life filled with joy and peace - trusting in God is absolutely essential for that kind of blessing.
The Power of Trusting God
I love these words from Samuel L. Brengle, the great preacher from the Salvation Army. He said: "God can do with me as He pleases, for I am His. I know that what He chooses must work out for my eternal good. He is too wise to make mistakes, too good to do me evil. I trust Him, I trust Him, I trust Him."
Can you say the same thing today? I trust Him. I trust Him. I trust Him.
Learning Trust Through Everyday Life
Shereen and I are cat people. We've got our two cats, Charlie and Lizzie, and they provide us much entertainment, lots of love, and we go outside with them every day into our little backyard. They've come to know that they can go out there and, as long as they can see us, they know they're safe.
Every so often a plane will fly over or there'll be a big commotion next door, and instantly the cats will turn their heads and look at us to see what we're doing. If we're calm and unfazed, they quickly settle down. If we say, "Come guys, let's go in," they trust us and follow.
When we're inside sitting on the couch, they feel so safe. They come and snuggle up and curl up, or they stretch out and lie there, perfectly content. You can see that they feel completely safe - they're in our presence.
Resting Securely in God
I wonder if your walk with God looks something like that. Sometimes there's a commotion, something bad happens - do you look up and see your God, who is firm, who is strong, who is unfazed, who is greater than the greatest commotion your life can throw at you?
Do you hold on to Him? Do you trust Him, and do you rest in Him, simply enjoying being loved by Him on a daily basis? Whatever strange things are happening in your life, you can turn around and see a God who is in control and who is going to help you.
Trust in Him today. Trust in Him - even in this crazy world we are facing at the moment. "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord Almighty." May that be you today.
When dealing with difficult people, it’s important to be honest. This is hard! But it’s the only way to truly move forward and ‘deal with it’.
