Knowing What to Do Next

Luke: All right, I'm back with Trevor as we look at some words of inspiration from his mentor, the minister Frank Mussell.

Trevor: I thought chapter 29 was just a very special chapter, “Knowing What to Do Next”.

Knowing What to Do Next in Life

You know, life can be so good and, and Frank speaks about how sometimes life is just wonderful and everything is great and the skies are blue and job is going well and the grass is green.

And then something comes over that just causes us a change of mood and life is just challenging and difficult.

What do you do?

You know, some people will go to a fortune teller, go to a palmist, go to someone who'd give them some sort of direction.

Frank speaks about this. He says “is there a better philosophy of life that will give us direction? There certainly is,” as he says. “And when you look at the Bible and look carefully into its pages, you find that the ancients had the belief that there was a personal God who was interested in the lives of men.”

Trusting God’s Direction for Your Life

And you know, I look at Psalm 37:4. This is also in the in the chapter, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. He also said ”Trust in the Lord and do good, and He will give you the desires of your heart, of course, all being in His will.”

Look at Jesus, at His life. As Frank says, “He was so at one with the Father that His life was God planned and God ordered, and at any given time He knew what to do.”

You know, the question is, is it possible for us to cultivate this attitude to God and life?

Frank says it is.

Living by Prayer and Faith Daily

He believes that it is through prayer and he suggests that any decisions that he ever has to make, he uses what he would call godly judgment and then applying what he would describe as sanctified common sense that.

Holy common sense focused on God and once he's done that in his prayed and and ask the Lord to give him guidance gets on with the business of living and through all of that he believes and we believe that the Lord will guide us and give us our direction.

Yeah, and I think it's important to get on with the business of living.

As you said, or as Frank said, to not get paralyzed by indecision, but to pray and to seek God in faith and then to live and let God guide you as you live.

And I love these words that end Frank's chapter.

He said, I commend to you this same way of life and thought with Christ as a companion.

Do not walk through the maze alone.

He walks with you and He will continually guide you.

And so I hope that those words will bring you some inspiration and encouragement to day.
