Accompanied by Him
We're looking at Matthew 9 this week and Jesus' healing of Jairus's daughter. I love how Jairus bows down in humility before Him and then boldly states his belief that Jesus can heal his daughter. Verse 19 then says: "Jesus got up and went with him, and so did His disciples."
The Constant Presence of Christ
Now, I love this verse because it paints a picture for me about how Jesus is part of our lives. Jairus comes into Jesus' presence, kneels down, and prays to Him—has a conversation with Him—and then Jesus got up and went with him. I love that!
Think about your own quiet time or your devotions. We come before God, we read our Bibles, we spend time in prayer. And I hope that you know that when you get up and leave, Jesus gets up and goes with you! A lot of the time, we kind of leave Him there. We don't realize that He's come with us. But oh, this picture of Jesus getting up and going with us after we've approached Him—hold on to that would you? Hold on to it today because yes, He is with you. Walking with you, accompanying you through your life—that's huge to hold that in your heart all day.
The Power of Christian Community
But notice that verse said, "Jesus got up and went with him, and so did His disciples." Do you have a group of disciples who do life with you? They may not physically walk with you everywhere you go, but they're with you in spirit because they're praying for you. They're caring for you. They're asking after you and checking in on you. Maybe you meet to just encourage one another and pray together. Oh, life is so much better—the Christian life is so much better—with a group of disciples who get up and go with you every day.
And so now today, friends, know that you're not alone, because when you get up and go, Jesus goes with you. Find yourself some good Christian people, some disciples who will also be there for you and go through life with you.
