Lord I Come

I know that many of you worship with me on a Sunday night during those encounter videos that I put out. And perhaps you remember a few weeks back, Nicole joined me and we sang some beautiful songs together and my favourite one of that session was this song:

Lord I come (Lord I come)
Take my life (Take my life)
I offer it to You, a living sacrifice
By Your grace, (By Your grace)
by Your blood (by Your blood)
I come into the Holy of Holies

Beautiful song, written by Billy Funk. We used to sing a lot at the church I grew up in. Lord I come it starts. Lord I come, take my life and it struck me as I was singing, that God invites us to come to Him. He takes that first initiative, but then we've got to respond. We've got to come to Him.

Come To Worship

It’s the end of the year and Christmas is coming up around the corner. It reminds me of the Magi who came from the East to visit Jesus when He was born. In Matthew 2:2, they say: "Where is the one who's been born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him." We've come! We took the initiative and we came into His presence.

A little further in Matthew 8, Jesus comes to Capernaum and a centurion, we read, came to Him asking for help because his servant at home was paralysed and Jesus said shall I come and heal him? And the centurion said: "Oh I don't even deserve to have You come to my place. Just say the word. My servant will be healed." He came seeking Jesus, came to find Him.

Draw Near To God

And so I wonder if you can sing Lord I come, take my life. If you are approaching God and coming into His presence, spending time with Him.

After all, it was James who said in James 4:8: "Come near to God and He will come near to you."

So I pray that today you will come near to God. You will say: Lord, I come, take my life and draw near to Him. I believe firmly that if you take that step, He's going to meet you right there and He's going to bless you because you came.
