Supporters’ Devo: A Power for Prayer
Thank you for supporting me in this work, friends! I do hope this week on prayer has fired you up. Prayer is something that I have always struggled with, but when I got these practicalities down these last months, prayer came to life for me and I am ready for a life of fervent and deep prayer. I hope you are too.
I want to mention one last thing - and it's the power for prayer. Have you heard of "praying in the Spirit"? Those of you who are more Pentecostal may immediately think about praying in tongues, which is not something I have ever done - to my knowledge.
The Spirit's Power in Prayer
No, I'm not talking about tongues. I'm talking about the Spirit of God enabling you to persevere in desperate and deep prayer. I like this little four-part quote from Leonard Ravenhill:
"The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Fire delivers us from coldness in prayer. The Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Life ends our deadness in prayer. Paul reminds Timothy that God of the gift of God which he must fan into flame. Are we doing this?
We often say that we are too busy for worship – but Jesus was very busy man who still make time for worship. It was high on his list of priorities – how about you?
