Relish
As we continue our year-end Examen, we've recognized that God was with us and today we're going to relish the good moments that He gave us.
I think the traditional Examen says that this is a time of Thanksgiving. It's a very good word, but the word relish just seemed to have a lot more excitement to it!
Relish Good Moments
Can you look back on your year and relish the good moments? To relish means to enjoy greatly, and so relish the good moments that God has given you this year.
As I look back on my year, I think of many moments that I relished. We had a great weekend away with our Bible study group, which was precious. Shereen and I had an amazing time in the Kruger, which we absolutely relished. I remember some amazing services that I led with Crossroad at different churches, which were so enjoyable.
Of course, I also started my Encounter videos this year, which have been so enjoyable. There were braais with family and friends, phone calls that brought me great joy, runs that refreshed the soul.
And these are just a few moments that I can think of off the top of my head as I think back on my year. I know there are going to be many more.
Thanksgiving and Praise
In fact, maybe this verse in Psalm 40:5 can help us relish the good times this year. The psalmist said:
"Many, Lord my God, are the wonders You have done,
The things You planned for us, none can compare with You.
Were I to speak and tell of Your deeds,
There would be too many to declare."
That's a wonderful prayer to pray. Are you able to say, as you look back on the good times this year, "Many, Lord, are the wonders You have done; the things You've planned for us, none can compare with You"?
Give Him praise today. Give Him glory. Thank Him profusely with all your heart for the good moments. Relish them, friends. God has made you to enjoy the good moments in life.
And so, look back with Thanksgiving in prayer today and relish what God has done for you.
