Repairing Relationships

And so let's hear Derek's last point about no-regrets living before Jesus comes.

And finally, I think he's calling us to risky relationships. Do you remember the story of King Saul? King Saul had some amazing people in his life. Samuel wanted to be his friend, but Saul deceived him and abandoned him, and he betrayed that friendship.

David, the young boy, could have been Saul's protégé. David longed to just be Saul's friend, to sit at his feet. But Saul was filled with envy, and he tried to kill David numerous times. One repentant conversation would have changed that for all time. Instead, we're told in Scripture that Saul died by his own hand and essentially died alone spiritually. If only Saul had cultivated a relationship with the people around him, it could have been different.

The Danger of Superficial Relationships

Some of us have a lot of superficial relationships. Do people know the real you? Do you know the real you? Some of us have relationships in which there's a grudge that we've been carrying around for years.

Today's the day to ask: Do you want to carry that bitterness into eternity? Surely not. Why don't you say - or will you say - "I'm sorry"? Will you forgive? Will you need to forgive?

Living Without Regret

Please don't wait. Just start living life the way God wants you to live life. Life and time, as we discover more and more, these days are unspeakably precious and relentlessly short. Don't wait until it's too late. Don't reach the end of your life and be tormented by the words "if only."

Oh, this is a powerful message, and it really affected me back then and now when I listen to it again. By the way, if you're interested in Derek's teachings, he does a weekly teaching on WhatsApp called Well Versed, and I will put the link to that in the blog post here, as well as the old Trinity sermons that I've got. I'm putting them onto YouTube so you can subscribe to the channel here as well.

God bless you my friends, and may you live a no-regrets life for Jesus.
