Supporters’ Devo: Thomas Carlyle

My friends, thank you for supporting the work that I do online. I love doing daily devotions, music, and more, and I'm really appreciative of your kindness. Derek's sermon was most powerful. I wonder what you thought of it, and if it really inspired you as it did me. I want to share another section of the sermon that is actually too long to fit into one week of devotions. I had to cut out a lot of it, but this story was just very touching. So have a listen.

Let me tell you the story of Thomas Carlyle, the great Scottish author. He was married to a woman who was his secretary. Her name was Jane Welsh. But Carlyle had very little time for Jane because he gave his all to his writing. He didn't spend much time with her. Most of the time he simply ignored her. At one point she became very ill, and it turned out that the illness was terminal, but he was too busy writing to notice, and he didn't have the time for her until she died.

A Heartbreaking Discovery

And this was what the writer who told the story writes, and I want to just read it… Please consider supporting this ministry with any amount per month, to access my extra Saturday devotions. You can do so here on my Patreon.
