Citizens in the Kingdom
Well my friends the kingdom of God is at hand, as Jesus promised. And here in my country of South Africa, there are many people leaving our land to go and seek greener pastures. We have many problems over here that don’t seem solvable – an incurable corrupt and selfish government, mafia-type business ethics which have destroyed our economy, the neglect of infrastructure that has damaged our lifestyles beyond repair. Many people have looked at all of this and thought: let’s get out.
And speaking to some friends who have left or are planning to leave, I have heard how difficult it is to leave here and become a citizen of another land. For one thing, you need money. You need to pay your way, or have a sponsor who will get you there. You need some sort of job or work that will allow you to contribute in the new land. Of course you need a passport or a VISA to legally enter into the new country.
Simple Kingdom Citizenship
The process is long and arduous with many interviews, much paperwork, and much time needed. And then once you arrive, you’re not yet a citizen. No! You have to live in the new land for many years, become embedded in the community, prove yourself as a worthy citizen, learn much about your new land, and then you can apply to become a real citizen.
But if you want to be a citizen in the kingdom of God, moving out of the worldly, selfish kingdom in which you currently live, and beginning to enjoy the love and protection of the King of kings, and doing the great work that He gives you to do, the process is not so complicated.
You don’t need money, because Jesus has already paid for you to come.
You don’t need any paperwork, because God will write your name in His book when you arrive.
No VISAs or passports necessary.
Steps to Citizenship
All you need is to take 3 steps, and you’ll be a citizen in the kingdom of God:
1. Quit waiting. Don’t put it off, but come to God today.
2. Quit sinning. Reject your old life in a land of sin and selfishness, and commit to a new life
of holiness with the King’s help.
3. Quit doubting and believe the good news that Jesus is God’s Son, the Redeemer of the
world, and that He’s paid your way.
If you take the time to sincerely turn from sin and trust in Jesus… guess what? Your citizenship is approved by your faith. You belong to the kingdom of God now, and the adventure of a lifetime awaits!
Are you a citizen of that kingdom my friend? Or are you a citizen of the worldly kingdom around you?
I implore you to choose wisely which kingdom you will embrace.
