The Woman Preacher

Luke: Let's continue with another devotion from my friend Ray. He's a minister at Rooftop Ministries, and he's been sharing with us about Easter and the empty tomb.

Ray: Mary had done something that was ignored for many, many centuries - in fact, until very recently. She delivered part one of the sermon series and the first gospel message that the tomb is empty and Jesus has risen!

The First Witness of Resurrection

Mary had an experience that morning. The experience was that Mary peers into the tomb and sees the angels sitting where Jesus' body had been. One of the angels was sitting at the head of where Jesus was lying, and the other at the foot where Jesus was lying.

Mary, a woman, had experienced the first divine conversation after Jesus had risen. It signifies that women are equal to men. It is not just men that are chosen to receive the Word of God. I mean, the first person to receive a message from God, a conversation with God after the risen Jesus Christ was a woman. Mary.

Finding Hope in Our Pain

Jesus had risen. Mary was full of pain because her Saviour, her friend, somebody that she worshiped, was missing. She shares her pain with the angels. She pours her heart out. And I think that gives us a story of hope for you and me, a story that we should realize that when we are in pain, we should turn to God and pour our heart out to God because He will listen. And He is compassionate, He is loving. He is understanding,

Luke: Those are two great lessons. The first preacher of the resurrection was a woman, and like her, all of us can know that our pain will be redeemed by Jesus. Have a great day, my friends.
