The Light of Your Glory

OK, there are the two images in this chorus. Yesterday we spoke about the living water—the well that never runs dry.

Listen and see now if you can hear the other image.

Well that never runs dry
All I wanna see is the light of Your glory
Just one glimpse, just one drink, and my soul is satisfied.

Seeing the Light of His Glory

This makes me think of Jesus' words in Matthew 5:8: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." They will see Him - they’ll get a glimpse.

I've often fantasised about how wonderful it would have been to see Jesus in the flesh, to be there in those days when He was here. Think about seeing that risen body - it must have been amazing!

But then I remember what Jesus said to Thomas in John 20:29: "Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

We don't get to see Jesus in the flesh, but we're blessed because we've believed.

Seeing God Around Us

Nonetheless we still see God in various ways, don't we? If we open our eyes, we will see God.

It reminds me of another famous Christian song: "Have You Seen Jesus My Lord? He's here in plain view - take a look, open your eyes, He'll show it to you.”

Then the song says: "Have you ever looked at the ocean”, or “looked at the sunset”, or “looked at the face of your neighbour?” Well, then “you've seen Jesus, my Lord."

If we open our eyes, we can often see Him.

One Day We'll See Him Face to Face

But let's remember that all of these sightings are just glimpses. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:12: "Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face."

Yes, let's look for the light of God's glory. Let's look around us all day and see Him in all sorts of ways - in people, in nature, and in the amazing things that happen in the world.

But let's remember that all this is only a reflection. One day we will see Him face to face - and then surely, we will forever be satisfied.

Friends, I hope you've enjoyed the song, and I hope you'll be singing it for a long time.
