God Has the Final Say

Now, this whole story of Melissa losing her arm and getting a very advanced prosthetic arm has got fingerprints all over it. And that's the joy of reading this book—seeing how God worked in even mysterious ways.

Faith Beyond Science

In fact, as the case progressed, Dr. Seth started to see these things and recognize them. On page 68, he says “there's more than chemistry and biology going on here. This is an uncommon case and an uncommon patient. There just could be something going on here that is beyond our comprehension.”

Then he says that “doctors aren't trained to think that way. They'd be laughed out of the academy if they spoke of supernatural things.” But he says this: “But a large number of doctors and nurses know better. We've seen things that charts and tests can't measure. We've seen those occasions when prayer is as good an explanation as anything else, because frankly, there's no reasonable explanation that works.”

God’s Hand in Healing

And this was a powerful thing for him to write, because this whole story was about amazing advances in technology, incredible medical procedures that we would never have dreamed about even 20 years ago. And yet, he says, there's always some element of something greater than us.

And maybe you can take solace in that today. I think all of us know somebody who is sick, who is not in a good way health-wise. And we're blessed to live in a time when we can go to hospitals and receive amazing care.

In the end, there is something bigger than that going on. God is in control, and we really have to learn to trust in Him, don't we? We can have faith in God's mysterious workings because the truth is, friends, He always works things out for our good.

And so be amazed at the advances in medicine and technology, but remember that in the end it is our God who has the final say, and we can trust in Him—whatever that final say might be.
