Change Me Lord

A powerful prayer that you can be praying as an oxygen prayer throughout the day is: Change me, change me, Lord.

I think change is a true sign of being touched by God. Nobody remains the same having been truly touched by God, but they are changed into a new person.

Biblical Call to Change

The Bible often talks about having a change of heart in the Old Testament or changing evil ways. The Israelites were often told to change their evil ways and come back to God.

The only One who doesn't need to change is God! And the Bible often talks about how He is unchanging.

And Jesus said this: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of God” (Matthew 18:3). Unless you change—unless your heart is changed and you are born again into little spiritual children—you will never enter the Kingdom of God.

The Gospel Transforms Lives

I want to say this to you: the Gospel of Jesus was always about transformation. He took rough and tumble fishermen and turned them into passionate disciples. He took a murderous Pharisee and changed him into a great messenger of the Gospel—the Apostle Paul. He took people who were broken and oppressed, healed them, and freed them.

Jesus was not just a good man teaching good things. He was God in the flesh. And so He brought transformation with every encounter He had with people.

Daily Prayer for Change

I want to say to you: pray Change me to God. All of us come with our burdens. All of us come with our sins. All of us come to God needing help, needing transformation. Be careful, friends, not to come to God and live a churchy life without experiencing the transformation of Christ. If you need to be changed from old into new, come to Him and pray over and over and over: Change me, Lord. Let it be a daily prayer so that in your daily journey with Jesus, He is making you more and more into His image.

In fact, Paul said it in 2 Corinthians 3:18: “All of us who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory are being transformed into His image.” Being changed, in other words, into His image.

And so, friends, let every day be a day where you're praying: Change me, Lord. Transform me one bit more. Take me one step further into Your image. And oh, yield to the Spirit and follow His promptings, and live that changed life that God is calling you to live.

He's willing to help you change, friends. Pray for it. Pray for it and see what He does in your hearts.
