Week 13 Reflection and Summary
What a rich week in God's Word! We finished Exodus, sang through five more Psalms, and watched the early church face persecution, martyrdom and its first steps beyond Jerusalem. Take some time this weekend to let these truths settle in your heart.
Old Testament
Exodus closes this week with the tabernacle finished exactly as God commanded, and His glory filling it in a powerful way. Along the way we saw Moses' face shine after time with God, His people giving generously and using their skills for His work, and every detail of the priestly garments pointing forward to Christ. Reflection question: Is God evident on our faces, and in our giving, after we've spent time with Him?
Poetry
Across Psalms 58-62, David keeps coming back to the same truth from different angles: God alone is our fortress, our refuge, our tower, and the One in whom our souls find true rest. People and wealth will always fail us, but God never does. Reflection question: Are we trusting and resting in God alone this weekend, or still looking elsewhere for our security?
New Testament
We saw the apostles rejoice in suffering for Jesus' Name, watched Stephen - full of faith and the Holy Spirit - boldly proclaim the gospel and forgive his killers even as he died, and met both Saul and Philip at the edges of the church's next great leap forward. Reflection question: Do we have Stephen's boldness to speak the truth, and his grace to forgive those who wrong us?
A Prayer for the Day
🙏 Lord, thank You that You are our fortress and our rest, that You finish what You start in us just as You finished the tabernacle, and that You can use ordinary, faithful people - even persecutors like Saul - for Your glory. Give us courage to speak boldly and grace to forgive freely. Amen.
