Today we marvel at God's creative power in Genesis 1, commit to meditating on His Word in Psalm 1, and watch as He begins to unfold His great plan of redemption through humble, unlikely people in Luke 1.
Genesis 1:1-2:3
📖 What are we reading?: God created the heavens and the earth - and everything in them - in six days, and rested on the seventh.
✞ What does this passage say about God?: Marvel at God's creative power! Notice how often He says how good creation is.
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live?: We humans bear a great responsibility to care for His created world.

➡️ The bigger picture: Genesis, meaning "beginnings", was written by Moses around 1400 BC, and covers the story of creation, the fall, and the origins of God's chosen people, Israel.

📖 What are we reading?: A short poem contrasting the righteous and the wicked.
✞ What does this passage say about God?: He blesses the righteous and casts the wicked away.
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live?: We must meditate on the Word daily and walk in His ways, to be able to stand firm. What a perfect introduction to this reading journey we are beginning today!

Luke 1:1-38
📖 What are we reading?: Luke introduces his reason for writing, and then tells of the announced births of both John the Baptist and Jesus.
✞ What does this passage say about God?: He uses ordinary people to do His extraordinary work. No word from Him will ever fail!
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live?: We are called to be "righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commands and decrees blamelessly." And when God calls us to something, may we respond like Mary - with humble, willing faith - rather than like Zechariah, with doubt!
