Exodus 28 unpacks the priestly garments and their rich symbolism, Psalm 53 exposes the folly of unbelief, and Peter and John display the power available in Jesus' name.
Exodus 28
📖 What are we reading?: The garments to be worn by God's priests, each item carrying rich symbolism.
✞ What does this passage say about God? He requires us to be holy, as we read in verse 36.
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live? Jesus is now our high priest (Hebrews 8), and so God's ministers have a different function today - not to sacrifice animals, but to lead the people in laying down their lives for Christ.

➡️ The bigger picture: Exodus, meaning "departure", was written by Moses around 1400 BC. It tells the thrilling story of Israel's miraculous deliverance from slavery in Egypt - a picture of Christ setting us free from the prison of sin.
Psalm 53
📖 What are we reading?: The psalmist declares that atheism is foolishness, while God's people wait on His salvation.
✞ What does this passage say about God? He is the source of true wisdom, and the salvation His people long for came, of course, in Christ.
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live? We need not be shaken by a culture that calls belief foolish, remembering that our salvation has already come.

📖 What are we reading?: Peter and John heal a man lame from birth at the temple gate, in the name of Jesus.
✞ What does this passage say about God? He delights to display His power through ordinary, Spirit-filled believers.
🛐 How does this passage teach us to live? Like Peter, we may have no silver or gold to offer others, but we carry something far more valuable in the name of Jesus.

➡️ The bigger picture: Luke's second book outlines the ministry of the early church - though it could just as well be called the Acts of the Holy Spirit, as He guides and grows Jesus' small movement into something that changes the world.

🙏 Lord, thank You that Jesus is our great High Priest, that our salvation is secure in Him, and that You still delight to work through ordinary people in His name. Give us boldness today to offer others what we truly carry. Amen.
