Angels minister to God's people both supernaturally and through human kindness. Be encouraged by heaven's watchful care, and consider how you might be someone's angel today.
Don't Despise Even One
Jesus challenges us to love all His children without despising any - even those who have hurt us. Today, release your bitterness to God and choose His way of radical love.
End Times
The final Articles of Faith of the Church of the Nazarene focus on Christ's second coming and the final judgment, emphasizing the urgency of living holy lives and sharing the Gospel. Take time today to examine your readiness for Christ's return and consider how your life can better witness to His love.
The Church
The Church of the Nazarene emphasizes the importance of Christian community through its sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper, while maintaining a balanced view of divine healing through both faith and medicine. Find a local church family today where you can experience these means of grace and grow together with fellow believers
Holiness
The Church of the Nazarene embraces Wesley's teaching that entire sanctification - freedom from original sin and perfect love toward God - is available to believers in this life through faith. You can experience this transformative work of the Holy Spirit today by fully consecrating your life to God and trusting in His sanctifying grace. Read or comment here:
Sin and Salvation
The Church of the Nazarene's Articles of Faith explain how salvation comes through Jesus Christ's atonement, bringing justification, regeneration, and adoption into God's family. If you haven't experienced this new life in Christ, you can turn to Him today in faith and receive His gift of salvation
The Nature of God
The Church of the Nazarene's foundational doctrine centers on the Trinity - understanding God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working in perfect unity and community. Take time today to pray intentionally to each person of the Trinity, strengthening your relationship with God in all His fullness.
Paschal Spirituality - Joyful and Optimistic
The profound truth of Christ's resurrection infuses our faith with unshakeable joy and optimism, regardless of life's circumstances. Let the declaration "Whatever happens, the Lord is risen" transform your perspective today as you face both challenges and victories.
Paschal Spirituality - Stamped with the Signature of Jesus
The signature of Jesus - the cross - calls us beyond comfortable Christianity into a life of radical sacrifice and authentic discipleship. Consider today how your life can better reflect Christ's sacrificial example, moving from mere intellectual belief to transformative action.
Paschal Spirituality - A Good World
The biblical view of creation reveals a joyful God who delighted in making a fundamentally good world, even though it became flawed by sin. Take time today to notice and celebrate the inherent goodness in God's creation, from the natural world to the people He has made in His image.
Paschal Spirituality - Lived in Community
Pascal Spirituality calls us to move beyond individualistic faith into authentic Christian community where God's love becomes visible through our relationships. Paschal Spirituality - Christocentric
This devotional explores the concept of Paschal Spirituality from Brennan Manning's "The Signature of Jesus," emphasizing how Christ's death and resurrection should be reflected in our daily lives. Today, examine whether Christ truly stands at the center of your faith journey, beyond religious activities and traditions.
Acts of Kindness
Uncle Howard spent many hours tending to a young boy on crutches named Debonair. Years later, Debonair wrote to Howard to tell him what an impact this had on his life. What small act of kindness could you do today? It might just change someone's life.
Trusting God to Provide
Howard and Pam gave up everything for God... and at one point, Howard "lost it" with the Lord as he contemplated the struggles they were facing. But, he came to see, that it was when they had nothing but Jesus that they truly learned to live the faith life.
The Call of God
My Uncle Howard shares about his call to this type of work, and reminds us that we are all COMMANDED to make disciples - accept that, and God will show you where and how he wants you to do it.
Fasting Practicalities
Let's get practical about fasting! Fasting FOOD is the way to go, unless you have health issues that prevent it. Don't fall for the popular "fast from negativity, complaining, and anxiety" idea - that's not a fast at all. When you fast, you go without something good to rely more deeply on God.
Wrong Motives When Fasting
Be careful not to fast with the wrong motives! The prophets and Jesus warn against this. If you want to know what kind of fast honours God, have a look at Isaiah 58
Fasting and Intercession
Fasting is powerful when we are focusing on the prayer needs of others. Consider a time of fasting and prayer, interceding for someone who is need.
