Continuing in Holiness
Holiness is not about one moment of consecration. It is a daily practice of killing sin and embracing God’s grace.
Consecrated and Holy
How do we become holy? Our part is consecrating our lives to God. His part is sanctifying us by grace.
Cleansed and Holy
Our sin makes us unholy. But thank God that he offers us not just forgiveness of our sins, but cleansing from them!
Called To Holiness
Some people think they can never be holy in this life. The New Testament disagrees.
Christ’s Holiness
One thing you can say about Jesus – he was holy! Demons proclaimed it, believers proclaimed it. Do we proclaim it and try to emulate it?
The Completeness of Jesus’ Worship
Jesus was always worshipping! Many of us try to split our lives into God-things, and other things. But for Jesus, everything was connected to God.
The Priority of Jesus’ Worship
We often say that we are too busy for worship – but Jesus was very busy man who still make time for worship. It was high on his list of priorities – how about you?
The Expressions of Jesus’ Worship
Jesus worshipped in private, and he worshipped with others. Many of us miss out because we don’t value both of these ways of worshipping.
The Object of Jesus’ Worship
Who did Jesus worship? He worshipped God the Father, the Creator of all.
Jesus the Worshipper
Jesus is not just the one we worship. During His time on earth He himself was a worshipper, giving glory to God the Father in all He did.
Love From the Father
How could Jesus love so extravagantly? His love was an overflow of the love he received from the Father. Today, know yourself to be loved, and let God’s love spill out of you to others.
Love for the Far Gone
Jesus loved those who nobody else wanted to love. Nobody is too far gone for His love. Is anybody too far gone for our love?
Love for Foes
Jesus not only loved those closest to Him, He loved those who were His enemies. We should too.
Love for Family and Friends
Jesus’ love started with those closest to him. He was no lone ranger – he gathered people around him to do life with, and loved them to the end. How are you loving those closest to you?
Copying Jesus
Human beings learn by copying. And there’s no greater person to ‘copy’ than Jesus! A story today illustrates that we can love the way Jesus loves, so that people begin to see Him in us.
Step 4 - Delight
It’s important that we see God as a greater delight and joy than our sin. Resisting temptation is denying yourself for something even better.
Step 3 - Control
Just because the Spirit is the one who empowers us, doesn’t mean that we have no responsibility. We are called to do the work of resisting temptation, in the power of the Spirit.
Step 2 - Belief
When we are tempted to do something not of God, it’s important that we keep believing in the Spirit’s power. The power of God is stronger than the power of the enemy, and we can resist temptation because we believe this!
Step 1 - Awareness
My strategy to fight off temptation begins with being aware of my own struggles. If I know where to expect temptation, I can be ready for it before it even comes.
