Don’t Let the Sun Go Down Without saying “I Love You”
A day without an "I love you" is a wasted day! Say it to the people who need to hear it most today... what a difference it might make.
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Your Anger
It was Paul who said "don't let the sun go down on your anger". An story from early church history illustrates how we can make this a rule of our lives.
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down Without Bending the Knee in Prayer
Birds go to sleep on their perches without falling off, because their bended knees help them hold onto their perch tightly. What's the secret to holding things that are precious to us? The secret is in the bended knee of prayer.
Don’t Let the Sun Go Down Without Feasting on the Word
How privileged we are to have our own Bibles in these times. Yet, how often the sun goes down with our Bibles still unopened or unread. Let's change that! The Word of God brings truth... even when it doesn't bring peace.
Don’t Let The Sun Go Down - On Regrets
Elton John's song "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" has become something of a prayer for me, after a day when I climbed into bed not doing what I wanted to. Life's too short to live this way!
Stay Worshipful
Jude ends his letter with a famous benediction that many churches still use to close their services: "Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling… be glory and majesty, dominion and power…" Great words reminding us that when we stay worshipful, the rest falls into place.
Stay Filled
Jude warned his people not live apart from the Spirit of God. Are you filled with the Spirit today, and living in His fullness and power?
Stay Merciful
Jude reminded his readers to show mercy to the doubters. While he was passionate about holiness, he was not "holier-than-thou"… he was kind to those who needed mercy. Are we?
Stay Faithful
Jude's letter is known as the "Acts of the Apostates". He was deeply concerned about his people being led astray by teachers who were not truly committed to God. A story from AM Hills reminds us of the call to stay faithful today.
Stay Humble
Jude could've boasted about his connection to Jesus (they were half-brothers), but he called himself a servant of Jesus! Are we humble in our faith?
Generous With Our Kindness
Kindness is difficult to give away, because it keeps coming back to you! The more you show, the more is shown to you. Let's be generous in our kindness, as God is with His. Thanks Derek for a great week of devos!
Generous With Our Giving
Billy Graham once said that we receive with our left hands and give with our right. Are we generous with our giving? Another story from Derek challenges us in this regard today.
Generous With Our Forgiveness
It takes a conscious act of willing obedience for us to practise forgiveness. Derek shares a story about a little boy and ice cream to show this in today's devotion.
Generous With Our Love
God love us just as we are, as he calls us to give our love away. Another story from Derek illustrates this today.
The Call to Generosity
Derek Wilson joins me today to talk about generosity - and how the Christian life is a life of giving. Listen to his story about "Mr Twister" to kick off the week.
In Christ We Are Placed into a Family
The risen Christ doesn’t leave us alone. He places us in family, so that we can lean on others and find the strength and help we need.
In Christ Life is Not Easy
Paul didn't buy into a "ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑤𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ" prosperity gospel. He was determined to spread the news of Jesus 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗺 (and it eventually did). Let's remember that health and wealth must not be our main priorities - but spreading the news of Jesus must be top of our list.
In Christ Our Hatred Turns To Love
Paul went 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑎 ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑒-𝑓𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝑚𝑢𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑟 𝑡𝑜 𝑎 𝑚𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒. He preached that even the most religious person has gained nothing 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞. South Africa's Nelson Mandela has a similar story - going from a murderer to a messenger of love. 𝑨𝒏𝒚 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆.
In Christ the Worst Find Forgiveness
Paul considered himself "𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑠". But Jesus forgave him when he surrendered his life… If God could take Paul and make him a messenger of the gospel, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂!
In Christ we see God's Greatness
Saul 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐬 when he encountered Jesus. Do we have the same sense of God's greatness and power? Let's not forget that the same gentle Jesus we love ℎ𝑜𝑙𝑑𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑖𝑛 ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑠.
