Good News – In a Weary World
God’s good news is not just for the rich, famous or successful. In fact, the least likely people are often the ones who God blesses the most.
You Can Trust God’s Words
The angel assured Mary that no word from God will ever fail. These days we have His Word in the Bible, fully inspired – are we trusting in the promises contained in His Word?
You Are Chosen
Embrace your unique gifts and answer God's call like Mary did, finding peace in serving as you're chosen to do.
You Need Not Fear
When Mary started to panic at the sight of the angel, he spoke assuring words to her and calmed her fears. Let’s hear his words to us today and also have a fearless Christmas season.
You Are Not Alone
The angel told Mary that God was with her. Perhaps this promise can give us hope and courage today too.
You Are Highly Favoured
Mary was highly favoured by God – and so can we be. It is not perfect, sinless ones who are favoured by God, but sinners who have found grace through faith – like Mary.
God’s Humbling Hand
God humbled Zechariah by taking away his speech. Perhaps God takes something away from you this Christmas – don’t let it drive you to despair, but let it drive you deeper into God’s arms.
God’s Listening Ear
Christmas should be a time of much prayer, because as God promised Zechariah, He listens when we pray.
God’s Calming Words
As Zechariah encountered an angel, he was gripped with fear – but a calming message was given to him to take his fear away. Perhaps God has the same calming words for us this Christmas.
God’s Perfect Timing
The angel’s visit to Zechariah was at the perfect moment. God’s timing is always right, but we must still play our part in preparing for what He has in store for us.
God Remembers
God brought a message to a man whose very name meant “God remembers”. Let’s not doubt that God has remembered those he loves.
Be Kind and Self-Controlled
Some people lose confidence in Christ’s return, and begin to live godless lives without any fear of the consequences. But Jesus warns them that when he comes back and finds them living this way, they will sadly regret it.
Be Faithful and Wise
Jesus would not have us sitting around waiting for His return. He would have us working hard to honour Him wherever He has placed us.
Be Amazed at the Servant King
When Jesus comes again, he will see those who were ready and will serve them with compassion. What a wonderful picture.
Asking For a Willing Spirit
David realized that he needed God’s help to go on living a faithful life. His prayer for God’s sustaining grace is one we can all echo today.
Asking For Joy
When David realized his sin, he asked God to restore him to a place of joy. Sin takes joy away – God restores it.
Asking For Cleansing
David didn’t get stuck beating himself up for sin. He asked for cleansing and received it in faith. We must do the same!
Acknowledging Our Sin
David does not downplay or deny his sin, but confesses it openly to God, in order to find forgiveness.
