Servants Make Much of the Master
What’s the job of a servant? To joyfully point out the greatness of the Master. This is our job as Christian servants.
Servants are Loyal to the Master
Idols in our day aren’t totem poles and golden calves, but money, possessions, entertainment and the like. Are you serving them, or loyally serving God?
Servants by Calling
Nobody wants to become a servant when they grow up, but Jesus’ words are clear that people of God are called to serve. Will you serve Him today?
Jesus Entrusting
When Jesus ascended, He trusted His people enough to leave the mission in their hands. Are you playing your part?
Jesus Expected
This Ascension Day, let’s remember that our call is not to stand and stare at the sky, waiting for His return. We must fulfil His mission while we are here on earth.
Jesus Enthroned
When Jesus ascended He didn’t begin to rest in heaven. The Bible talks of Him at the right hand of God, interceding for His people even now.
Jesus Empowering
Why was Jesus’ ascension so important? Because he then could send His Spirit to empower us for our Christian lives wherever we are.
Jesus’ Most Important Event
For many of us, Ascension Day doesn’t mean a lot in our faith. But perhaps this was actually the most important event in Jesus’ ministry
My God is Near
Sometimes it seems like God is out of earshot, or not paying attention to us. But Psalm 145 gives us the assurance that God is near when we call.
My God is Trustworthy
When we end our prayers with the word “amen”, we are declaring our trust in God. He is a God who keeps His promises, as Psalm 145 points out.
My God is Good to All
Is God only good to Christians? Psalm 145 says that God is good to all people, and Jesus’ words in Matthew 5 confirm this.
My God is Gracious and Compassionate
Psalm 145 says talks of God’s grace and compassion. How incredible that He would withhold His anger and pour out mercy instead!
My God is Great
As Psalm 145 shows, my God is not a small, weak God. He is considerably above average in every way – so great that none can fathom!
Do Not Envy the Godless
When we see the godless around us prospering, it’s easy to envy them. But let’s remember their ultimate fate apart from God, and remember our ultimate joy with Him.
Do Not Accuse Falsely
It’s easy to exaggerate or speak subtle lies about somebody. But Jesus calls us to radical honesty – like Solomon did in Proverbs 3.
Do Not Plot Harm
In a world that doesn’t care about harming others in order to gain, let us remember the golden rule – do to others as you would have done to you.
Do Not Procrastinate
When God calls us to do something, let’s not put it off to tomorrow. Do it today!
Do Not Withhold Good
We all have opportunities to do good to others. Let us faithfully do what we can, and not let such opportunities pass us by.
From Faltering to Faithful
If we want the blessings of the risen Christ, we must be willing, like Thomas, to lay aside our doubts and take a step in faith
From Paralyzed to Purposeful
Jesus gave the disciples a great new purpose – to take His message into the world, and to do the same things He had done. Are we sharing the good news, and living lives of love, healing and forgiveness?
