Trevor Huddleston – A Prayer for Africa
Fr. Trevor Huddleston’s famous “Prayer for Africa” closes our week. Perhaps you will make it a daily prayer of your own?
Nelson Mandela – This World and the Next
Nelson Mandela saw the church as equally concerned for earthly good and heavenly good. Is this how we live our lives?
Peter Storey – Ordinary People
On this voting day, words from another South Africa spiritual leader encourage us to take action – however ordinary we feel as people.
Beyers Naudé – Humanity and Responsibility
As we prepare for our elections, let’s look at the words of Beyers Naudé to remind us about recognizing humanity in all people, and taking responsibility where we ought
Desmond Tutu – Don’t Turn a Blind Eye to Evil
Leading up to Election Day in South Africa, let’s consider the words of our own Archbishop Tutu, who believed in mercy and forgiveness, but also justice.
The Spirit sends us
The disciples were sent out by the Spirit to do God’s work. So are we!
The Spirit Teaches us
Without the guidance of the Spirit, the Bible becomes dead and boring. But relying on the Spirit, we learn much and take much delight in teaching.
The Spirit Encourages Us
The early disciples were encouraged by the Spirit. Do you need encouragement today? The Spirit is here to provide you the ministry of His presence.
The Spirit Empowers Us
The disciples were promised power through the Spirit, and what a great measure of power they received! Are you operating in the Spirit’s power today?
Who’s the Hero of Your Story?
The book of Acts is more about the Holy Spirit than the apostles! Who’s at the center of your story: yourself, or the Spirit of God?
Servants of God are Loved by the Master
There’s a different between serving God like a slave, and serving Him like a precious child. Don’t get caught in a slavish way of service!
Servants Do the Work of the Master
As a servant of God the Father, Jesus came to serve people. We too serve God by serving God’s people in every way.
Servants Make Much of the Master
What’s the job of a servant? To joyfully point out the greatness of the Master. This is our job as Christian servants.
Servants are Loyal to the Master
Idols in our day aren’t totem poles and golden calves, but money, possessions, entertainment and the like. Are you serving them, or loyally serving God?
Servants by Calling
Nobody wants to become a servant when they grow up, but Jesus’ words are clear that people of God are called to serve. Will you serve Him today?
Jesus Entrusting
When Jesus ascended, He trusted His people enough to leave the mission in their hands. Are you playing your part?
Jesus Expected
This Ascension Day, let’s remember that our call is not to stand and stare at the sky, waiting for His return. We must fulfil His mission while we are here on earth.
Jesus Enthroned
When Jesus ascended He didn’t begin to rest in heaven. The Bible talks of Him at the right hand of God, interceding for His people even now.
Jesus Empowering
Why was Jesus’ ascension so important? Because he then could send His Spirit to empower us for our Christian lives wherever we are.
Jesus’ Most Important Event
For many of us, Ascension Day doesn’t mean a lot in our faith. But perhaps this was actually the most important event in Jesus’ ministry
