The Church Door

The only way to healing and victory is to open the door of your heart and let Jesus in. Rev. Derek Wilson’s final words from his 2008 Easter sermon invite us to receive this.

Derek's wisdom has been a blessing to us this week. And so let's listen to the final door that he speaks about.

“There's one more door. It's the church door. It's the door of life. John 10:7, Jesus says, ”I am the door. I am the gate for the sheep.” Use any words you like. I am the door, and the church door is always open, figuratively speaking, because of the country we live in.

The Open Church Door: A Call to Come as You Are

The open church door always says, ‘Come with your garbage. Come with your failure, come with your shame. Come as you did on Wednesday night with your brokenness. Come as you did on Thursday night with your brokenness. Come as you did on Good Friday with your brokenness. Come with all of that. Come in humility. Come in repentance. Come in faith. Come and meet the resurrected Christ. Come and meet your Savior. Come and meet the one who sets you free.’

Revelation 3:20 is of those great verses in Scripture: “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him and he with me.” The words of Jesus, Come unto me. Come unto me, Come to me. Jesus still saying it. The empty tomb says “Come unto me!”

What does this to signify for you in your life? Because I've given you a few choices yet. Is it a vault? Does it have mirrored glass in it? Is it the door to the school of hard knocks? Is it a prison?

In Ecclesiastes 3:11, the writer of Ecclesiastes says “he has made everything beautiful in his time.” I want you to come as you are. There is no other way for you to come. I'm going to ask you to come through the door. What door do you have to open in order for God to make all things beautiful?”

Unlocking Doors of Faith and Freedom on Easter

Let's stop hiding behind our doors, friends. And let's step out in faith today, because of Easter, because of resurrection. The doors are unlocked. They're open. They've been flung open wide by Jesus.

Maybe today's the day that we walk through those doors and find our freedom.
