Covered in the Rabbi's Dust
Ann Spangler and Lois Tverberg's book "Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus" invites us to sit at the feet of Jesus, letting His presence linger in our lives as a lasting spiritual fragrance for others to experience.
Compassion
Joseph teaches us that kindness matters even in our darkest moments. Look around today and reach out to someone who seems down – your simple acknowledgment might be exactly what they need.
When the Race is Complete
The final verses of this beautiful song remind us that our deepest longing should be to follow Jesus, trusting His daily renewal until we stand before His throne. When that day comes, our testimony will remain the same - all glory belongs to Christ who carried us through.
The Chains Are Released
Christ's work not only brings forgiveness but also breaks the chains that bind us, offering true freedom through His Spirit's power. Today, embrace the transforming reality that you can live in freedom, not through your own strength, but through Christ in you.
I Know I Am Forgiven
Through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we can live without fear of death or judgment because He has already paid the price. Today, embrace the complete forgiveness and sure hope that comes through faith in Christ alone.
My Shepherd Will Defend Me
When we're walking through life's deepest valleys, our Shepherd promises to defend and lead us through. Remember today that the night has already been won - not through your own strength, but through Christ in you.
The Night is Dark But I Am Not Forsaken
Summary: Even in our darkest nights and deepest weakness, we are never forsaken because Jesus stays by our side. Today, if you're struggling, remember that it's often in our weakness that His power is most perfectly displayed.
All is Mine
The chorus of "Yet Not I, but through Christ in Me" reminds us that when we are wholly bound to Jesus, we have everything we need in Him. Take a moment today to declare Jesus as your only hope and reflect on the sufficiency found in Christ alone.
What Gift of Grace
Through the lyrics of "Yet Not I, But Through Christ in Me," we are reminded that Jesus is the ultimate gift of grace, sufficient for all our needs. Take time today to reflect on how Jesus is your joy, righteousness, freedom, love, and peace.
They wanted people to die, we want sin to die
Psalm 137 expresses a desire for vengeance on enemies, but Jesus teaches to love and pray for them, emphasizing their salvation over their downfall.
They rejoiced, but we mourn at our enemy's death
Psalm 137 expresses a desire for vengeance on enemies, but Jesus teaches to love and pray for them, emphasizing their salvation over their downfall.
They wanted a place... we want a person
Psalm 137 prized Jerusalem as the highest joy, representing God's presence, but the New Testament emphasizes God Himself as the ultimate joy, transcending physical locations.
They couldn't sing... We can
Israelites in exile couldn't sing; Paul and Silas sang in prison, showing joy despite hardship, urging Christians to do the same.
They Wept For the Past… We Press On
The Jews in exile wept for the past, as we see in Psalm 137. But Christians are called to press on in faith, even in tough times.
Declaring our Faith
When we make a new covenant with God, it's not something to keep to ourselves! We tell our fellows Christians, we tell non-Christians, and we even tell the devil what Jesus has done for us.
Committing Fully
King Josiah committed to God fully, and didn't turn to the right or left. Can we commit fully to God? Yes we can - finding victory as we go in faith.
Believing in God’s Love
Josiah knew that God was willing to be merciful. Do you believe in His love? He has sent His Son to die in your place, that you may find forgiveness. Believe it!
Admitting Our Sin
When we want to make a covenant with God, the first step is admitting our sin. King Josiah did this as he read God's Law and saw his nation's shortcomings. Are we willing to admit our sins?
