Suffering for God
Paul knew that putting God in the centre might result in suffering. But when it happened, he kept God in the centre and refused to let his troubles overwhelm.
Gifted By God
Paul reminds Timothy that God of the gift of God which he must fan into flame. Are we doing this?
Defined By God
Paul’s opening words to Timothy underline how God was at the centre of his life – even in the way he introduced himself.
A Copernicus Moment
Blaise Pascal spoke about Jesus being at the centre of all things. So then, is He at the centre of your life?
A Costly Change
When the people in their lives began to reject them for their new faith, the Telchins stood firm. How do we cope when people look down on our Christian beliefs?
A High or Faith?
Stan Telchin’s faith was tested when the initial high of following Jesus began to wear off. His friends’ advice helped him make it through.
A Work of God
Stan and Ethel Telchin became believers in Jesus without a conscious decision as such – they just knew they believed. Others make a firm and obvious step in faith. Are both valid?
An Honest Question
As Stan Telchin wrestled with his faith, an honest question about worship cleared things up for him. Perhaps as you consider the same question today, God will speak to you.
A Serious Search
When staunch Jew Stan Telchin discovered that his daughter had become a believer in Jesus, he began ferociously studying the Bible to prove her wrong. Shouldn’t believers have this sort of passion for God’s Word?
Jerusalem Promotes Godless Leaders
As God continues to underline Jerusalem’s sin, He singles out the leaders of the city for their sin. How do we deal with godless leaders? With education and prayer.
Jerusalem Does Not Draw Near to God
God longed for his people to be close to Him, but they refused to come near to Him. Yet, His outstretched hand remained, even as they went into exile.
Jerusalem Does Not Trust God
Zephaniah pronounces woe on Jerusalem for not trusting in God. We may say we believe, but do we trust?
Jerusalem Accepts No Correction
God longed to transform the people of Jerusalem, but they refused His offer of correction. How willing are we to be corrected by God?
Jerusalem Obeys No One
The prophet Zephaniah calls down woe on Jerusalem for their disobedience. Would he have the same message for us? Or would he have the same message Paul had for the Romans?
No Matter the Distance
The story of the lost son reminds us that no matter the distance we’ve put between ourselves and God, He will run to us when we turn and come back to Him.
Is it Too Late?
Some people think they can wait til their deathbeds or even after they die to get right with God. But the Bible does talk of a time when it will be “too late”.
Aint Nothing But a Heartache, a Mistake
What keeps us ‘two worlds apart’ from God? Sometimes a heartache, or sometimes a sin or mistake makes us avoid Him. These very things should make us run to Him instead.
Two Worlds Apart
How often we find ourselves speaking great words to God but living worlds apart from Him. Are you wearing His name but not playing the game?
My Fire, the One Desire
God’s been speaking me in an usual way lately – through a Backstreet Boys song that I don’t really like! But despite my dislike of the type of music, the words made an impact on me as I considered if God is truly my fire and my one desire.
